If You Never Try, You Will Never Know...

Never underestimate what you can accomplish.

That is the message that had inspired me just a few days ago.

It was a youtube video that had gone viral over my facebook feed. I am sure that most of you have probably watched this video, but in case you haven't, this was more than what Dan Millman went through in his life as portrayed in the Peaceful Warrior movie.

It was about a 47 year old disabled veteran who overcame his mountain. It showed how he had lost hope and regained it again. Ultimately, it tells the story of how persistence without exception (Decision for Success #7) can overcome anything in life when practised.

Read on as I guide you through the story (youtube video embedded).

Background Info
At first, he had given up after being told by doctors that he could never walk again unassisted for 15 years. His injuries came about being a paratrooper in the Gulf War. Being unable to walk or run, exercising seemed far fetched. As a result, he had gain a lot of weight.

It all changed when he met a yoga instructor who believed in him and decided to help him.

Well, I am not going to spoil the rest of the story for you. Here's the video below:

Some Thoughts
Not just Decision #7, I can see that he also exhibits Decision #1-5. Let me explain how those decisions lead him to succeed:
  • Decision #1—He didn't let his history control his destiny.
  • Decision #2—He seek out help from yoga instructors.
  • Decision #3—He seek help and he put into action the advice of one yoga instructor who believed in him.
  • Decision #4—He believed that he could walk again unassisted.
  • Decision #5—He lived in hope and showed gratitude for his instructor.
I had left out Decision #6 because it doesn't seem very obvious to me. Maybe one of you care to enlighten me?

Thanks to the paratrooper in the youtube video above. You have certainly inspire the whole world to doubt what seems impossible. You have shown people who don't know, that it can be done.

Lessons of the day
Never say never and persist without exception.

How about it? Have you been inspired? What can we learn from him? Share your thoughts with the rest of the world in the comments below.
